Set design accents with metal surfaces for your laminates

The specially developed primers on the DECO PRIME® metal surfaces form both mechanical and chemical bonds with the resin systems. In the case of phenolic and melamine resins, reactive components in the primer ensure covalent bonds during the curing process. The microporous structure of the primer also ensures mechanical anchoring. This results in permanently stable bonds. The primers are matched to various resin systems and are applied on the reverse side.

DECO PRIME® metal surfaces for HPL and CPL laminates are optimized for standard pressing processes. They do not require any significant adjustment of the pressing parameters. For CPL laminates, we recommend slightly reducing the belt speed by approx. 5-10% for the first few passes. For HPL panels, the usual pressure and temperature profiles can be maintained. The ultra-thin material thickness (0.1-0.2 mm) ensures uniform heat transfer in the pressing system. We provide detailed processing parameters tailored to your specific systems as part of our technical advice.

We supply DECO PRIME® in various format options for HPL and CPL production: As coils with widths of up to 1,350 mm for continuous CPL processes, as slit strips in customer-specific widths or as cut-to-size sheets for HPL production. The standard thicknesses for laminate applications are 0.1 mm and 0.3 mm, with 0.1 mm being optimal for most laminate structures. Special formats and thicknesses are available on request. All materials are supplied with a protective film or interlayer to prevent damage during transportation and processing.

DECO PRIME® metal surfaces improve several properties of your HPL and CPL laminates. The dimensional stability is positively influenced by the low coefficient of expansion of the aluminum. Metal layers in laminates also act as a moisture barrier and improve dimensional stability in the event of moisture fluctuations. For special applications, our surfaces can also be used to improve thermal conductivity or electromagnetic shielding. The basic mechanical properties of the laminates, such as flexural strength and impact resistance, remain largely unchanged.

DECO PRIME® for HPL and CPL laminates contributes to a positive environmental balance. The aluminum used consists of up to 90% recycled material. At the end of the product life cycle, the metal components can be easily separated from the laminate and returned to the aluminum cycle. Our production is climate-neutral and uses 100% green electricity. The longer service life of metal-coated laminate panels due to increased abrasion and scratch resistance also improves the sustainability balance. We provide corresponding sustainability certificates and EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) for your product documentation.
