Environment & Climate
The protection of the environment is our highest priority. We promote new solutions for sustainable development and make a valuable contribution to the conservation of natural resources. This includes all the activities of our company - along the entire value chain.
Environmental protection from the factory
All surface finishing processes inevitably require the use of primary energy, consumables and water. Conserving natural resources has, therefore, been an integral part of our corporate philosophy ever since our company was founded. We are constantly optimising and monitoring our systems as well as the downstream environmental technology (exhaust air, waste, sewage). A functional hazardous substance management system also ensures our products comply with REACH, RoHS, WEEE and EoLV requirements. Since 2011, we have been producing using only “100% green electricity” from purely renewable energy sources. Our environmental management system is certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001:2015, and our energy management system is certified in accordance with ISO 50001:2018.
Recycling from the start
Aluminium is perfectly suited to recycling. Because of this, our aluminium products are not only made of up to 90% recycled material (depending on the desired surface quality) but can also be recycled with virtually no losses at the end of their life.
This has both economic and ecological benefits: producing recycled aluminium takes up to 95% less energy, generates fewer emissions and helps protect natural bauxite reserves.
Climate-neutral company
Protecting the planet is one of the biggest challenges of our times. In light of this, we see it as our duty as a company to do everything we can to help ensure that international climate change targets are met. Therefore, we have had our CO2 emissions at the Ennepetal site measured and will offset them for the year 2024 through climate protection certificates according to the CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) standard. We support a wind power project by IRL in Gudhepanchgani, India, which includes a total of 14 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 1650 kW. The goal of IRL's wind power project in Gudhepanchgani is to generate renewable electricity using wind power resources. The CDM project aims to contribute to poverty alleviation by creating additional employment, reducing social disparities, and providing basic amenities for the people.
Alliance for Development and Climate
With this in mind, we have joined the Allianz für Entwicklung und Klima together with other companies, organisations, universities, NGOs, state ministries, cities and individuals. Launched by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), this social alliance has voluntarily committed to ensuring the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, the global sustainability agenda, and the Paris Climate Agreement.
