History of Alanod
Our company has developed steadily over the years. Over the years, our national and international expansion has made us a globally active and broad-based company. These are our most important milestones since the company was founded:
1975
Founding year
1981
The second coil-to-coil anodizing line with a width of 1,000 mm is put into operation
1985
Construction of a 220 m long coil-to-coil production line that can anodize large coils up to a width of 1250 mm
until 1986
Alanod grows successfully and becomes the leading European manufacturer of anodized aluminium
1994 – 1999
Commissioning of the two coil-to-coil PVD coating systems ALBA I and II
1998
Alanod expands its activities in the UK through the acquisition of METALOXYD – renamed Alanod Ltd.
2002
Construction of a new 3000 m² production hall and extension of the administration building by 700 m²
2005
Commissioning of the 3rd coil-to-coil PVD coating system ALBA III
2005
Acquisition of Interpane Solarbeschichtungs GmbH and renaming to Alanod Sunselect – expansion of the solar product portfolio
2007
Introduction of environmental management certified according to ISO 14001:2015
2007
Alanod expands its activities to the US market and acquires Westlake Metals Industries
2007
Alanod intensifies environmental protection and buys green electricity from hydropower
2009
Construction of a new solar plant. Commissioning of a new coil-to-coil coating system and construction of a PVD coating system ALBA IV
2012
Introduction of energy management certified according to ISO 50001:2011
2012
Foundation of a joint venture with Xxentria in Taiwan for anodizing and PVD coating of rolled metal for the growing markets in Asia
2014
Alanod acquires BlueTec in Germany and expands its portfolio in the solar thermal sector
2019
Alanod is declared a climate-neutral company and joins an alliance for development and climate
2019
Takeover of the white metal surfaces division from Whiteoptics USA
2024
Opening of our new location in Shanghai
2025
Our new sales office in Pune, India starts work
2025
Anniversary year: Alanod celebrates its 50th anniversary
