The anodized aluminium substrate already offers excellent basic protection, which is further enhanced by our PVD coating systems. The surfaces retain their optical properties even after years of exposure to UV radiation, temperature fluctuations and humidity. For particularly demanding environments with an aggressive atmosphere (e.g. coastal areas or industrial sites), we offer additional protection options on request.
For street lighting with a focus on reducing light pollution, we recommend MIRO® 20 or MIRO® 5. MIRO® 20 with its uniform diffuse reflection ensures controlled light distribution and minimizes spill light into the sky. MIRO® 5 is particularly effective at converting point-shaped LED light sources into linear light distributions, thereby enabling more precise lighting concepts with reduced radiation above the horizontal.
In contrast to plastic reflectors, which tend to yellow and degrade quickly outdoors, our aluminium-based surfaces retain their reflective properties permanently. In accelerated ageing tests, they show no significant changes in reflectance or color rendering characteristics, even after simulations of several years of outdoor use. This ensures consistent quality of light over the entire service life of your lighting system.
Our reflectors with anisotropic reflection behavior enable precise light control, which makes a decisive contribution to fulfilling dark sky requirements. By precisely controlling the light distribution, you can design your luminaires so that no light is emitted above the horizontal (0% ULOR – Upward Light Output Ratio). MIRO® 27 for directional lighting and MIRO® 5 for linear light distribution in particular help to meet the strict requirements of modern light protection zones.
For municipal tenders, which often specify strict efficiency criteria, MIRO-SILVER® offers the greatest potential with a total light reflection of up to 98%. In combination with modern LED systems and precise secondary optics, you can achieve luminaire efficiency values of over 130 lm/W system-wide. Particularly when modernizing existing lighting systems, energy savings of 50-70% can be achieved and the strict requirements of municipal procurement guidelines can be exceeded.
